Once you have your guitar, one of your options is to take private lessons. This is a great way to learn if you have a teacher that knows how and what to teach.  Many teachers use the "standard edition" guitar method books. I have too. You start with the first string and learn three notes and how to read the music. Then you learn three more notes on the second string, then the notes on the third string, and so on.
