"Teach
Yourself to Play Guitar Chords and Strumming
Rhythms… and Be Confident That You're Doing It Right."
" Learn To
Play The Guitar So Quickly, It'll Feel Like Magic!"
From: Brian Hawthorn
Dear Friend,
If you've always dreamed of learning
to play the guitar but you don't have any idea where to begin,
whether you should take lessons or what book would be the best for
you to learn from, then the following info will be very helpful to
you.
You see, whenever we begin to learn
anything new, the toughest part is knowing where and how to get
started. Without experience, we aren't sure which way is the best
way to learn. As for the guitar, most people realize that if you
have a guitar and a method to learn to play, you can do it. Essentially this is true. But,
you need a playable
guitar and the right book. To help direct you to having a
playable guitar and the right book I've written a Free e-book
called “Guitar - How to Get Started" along with the " 7 Useful Tips for Beginners”
email mini-course. You'll find the information in this book and
e-course to be very helpful.
The “Guitar - How to Get Started"
e-book has chapters on:
- Buying a guitar
- How to tune your guitar
- Understanding chord diagrams
- Holding the guitar
- Strumming the guitar
- The 15 "must-know"
chords
- How to take care of your guitar
This e-book is downloadable from the
"7 Useful Tips for Beginners" email
mini-course.
The email mini-course " 7 Useful Tips for Beginners”
has additional tips and information to help you get a solid
start and speed up your learning curve by including explanations and
additional links to some of my other information sites.
All that is need to sign up is your first name and email address.
Your name and email address are safe. We will never rent, sell
or share your name and email address. In fact we use only a double
opt-in system which means that once you sign up you'll need to confirm that you signed up for this e-book and mini course.
This prevents SPAM.

e-book “Guitar - How to Get Started" and the " 7 Useful Tips for Beginners”
email mini-course. You can also use the pop-up to sign up as
well.
All of this information is geared towards the beginner or novice who
is looking for the right kind of knowledge to get started.
Once you have your guitar, one of
your options is to take private lessons. This is a great way to
learn if you have a teacher that knows how and what to
teach. Many teachers use the "standard edition"
guitar method books. I have too. You start with the first string and learn three
notes and how to read the music. Then you learn three more notes on
the second string, then the notes on the third string, and so on.
You'll practice by learning to play songs such as Aura Lee and
Yankee Doodle. After six or seven weeks you'll learn your first
couple of chords and a few weeks later, a couple of more chords. At
the end of six to eight months you'll know the notes on your guitar
(in the first position) and a few chords.
The emphasis of these books is on learning to read music
and play notes. However, the overwhelming majority of
guitarists don't know how to read music or play notes but lots of
them can sit down and chord and strum song after song. If you
were to ask how they learned, most of
these players would probably shrug their shoulders and say that they "just picked it up."
However, most of these guitarist's would agree that it would have
been a lot easier with an easy to understand book.
- "I learned more in one week with Brian Hawthorn's
Easiest Way Guitar Course than in the last 6 months
of guitar lessons. Accelerated easy guitar learning
is finally here."
James Rudd
You see, the guitar method books
have systematized how you learn the notes on the guitar. These books
are written to give parents and student a "progress
report." If you are now on page 27 in the book and you were on
page 24 the week before, you (and your parents) see that you are
progressing. Right? Now this is very important. It helps to be able
to measure progress.
Now I mentioned that I've been
playing for more than thirty years. I've always been a full-time
professional musician. I've toured from Florida to the Yukon and
from the West Coast of the United States and Canada to the East
Coast of the United States and Canada. I've taught several hundred
people how to play. I also worked in a music store for several
years. I wanted to have a measurable method of teaching my students
how to play chords and strum the guitar. But only the essential
chords that they needed to know along with the most necessary
strumming rhythms. The books that I found were either too hard or
intimidating or you had to be an expert at reading music. Up until
now there hasn't been an effective book to teach chords and
strumming in a measurable way.
What you'll want is an easy-to-follow, step-by-step, learn to
play the guitar system that'll teach you chords and strumming rhythms.
This is the focus of the Easiest Way Guitar Method. It is the "what-you-need-to-know" and the "how-to" to play your favorite songs.
You'll learn to play the guitar so quickly that you'll think its
MAGIC!
Here's why:The Easiest Way Guitar Method
is an easy to understand step-by-step system (14 steps).
You'll quickly learn through
diagrams, photos, explanations, examples and play-along exercises how to play
the 28
essential and "unique to guitar" chords along with 14 of
the "must-know" guitar strumming rhythms. Plus, there are
two companion CD's that offer additional audio and visual instruction, help and encouragement. On
the Audio CD which has 61 tracks totaling
more than 65 minutes (600.4 mg), you'll hear explanations and
demonstrations on how each chord will sound when played correctly.
You'll also hear me explain how to count and
play each of the rhythms. There are a total of 30
play-along tracks with guitar, bass, drums and keyboards in
the background. This
will teach you and help you to feel like you're playing with
other musicians. Soon you will be! The Video CD (computer MPEGs -
626.4 mg) allows you to see and hear the strumming
motion.
This combination of book and
CD's, will help you to know that you're learning correctly and give
you the confidence to know that you're doing it right.
It also conforms with the standard layout that music songbooks use.
This means that you will understand
how to follow the chords in your favorite guitar book and very soon
you will be able to play those songs
you love.
Now I'm aware that there are a lot of books available to teach
you to play the guitar. Obviously, some are better than others and
some
require a teacher and some don't so let me give you three good reasons to qualify my claim:
Three Reasons To Believe What I Say
Reason One: I began playing the guitar back in the 1960's
and have learned and played literally thousands of songs. I played
as a full-time professional musician touring and playing clubs from Florida to the Yukon and
from Oregon to Newfoundland. Because I've played so much, I know
what chords are essential and the strumming rhythms that songwriters,
musicians and bands use over and over. These same strumming rhythms
continue to be used in today's contemporary music.
Reason Two: I have taught
hundreds of people to play and I still teach. I have used the "standard edition music store method books."
These produce excellent results particularly in the presence of a
teacher. However, the emphasis of these books is on learning to read music
and play "notes." The emphasis on "The Easiest
Way Guitar Book" is on learning how to play guitar chords and
strumming rhythms.
Most people really want to
learn to play chords and know how to strum so that they can play the
songs that they like. I know that I did. When I was learning to
play, my teacher divided the lesson time between "the
book" and learning the chords and strumming rhythms to the
songs I liked. I really looked forward to the last part of the
lesson. I was able to go home and "impress" my sisters. As
I progressed, I began to recognize the chords and strumming patterns
on my own.
Reason Three: I
am a sales consultant for a music store chain in Eastern Canada so I
know what books are on the market and where to find them. I went
searching for a book that would allow me to teach my students chords
and strumming rhythms in a systematic way. I wanted a book that wouldn't
be overwhelming with information and that contained only the chords and
rhythms that are important. The book didn't exist, so I
organized my teaching notes and experiences and compiled them into
the Easiest Way Guitar Method.
Because I wanted my students to
remember what I had said and how everything was to sound, I wrote
the instructions as if they were hearing them for the first time.
Later, I recorded the CD's to enable the Easiest Way Guitar Method
to be a complete self-contained system.
I have seen the results first hand.
I've used as a teaching guide for group lessons to Grade 7 and 8
students. I use it to teach my private students. And I've seen the
amazing results from people who have purchased the book and then
show and tell me how much it has helped them. It works.
Here is a summary of the benefits you
receive
Each of the 14 easy-to-follow steps teaches two chords and
one rhythm.
- You don't have to learn to read music notation or
guitar tablature
You learn from the diagrams and photos and from listening
to and watching the CD's.
- Every chord has both a diagram and a
photograph
You won't have to guess where to place your fingers and
which fingers to use.
- Both chords in each step have a corresponding
audio track
You'll hear how each chord should sound. There is also help
on track 2 that explains "string buzz" and "dead" sounding
strings and how to correct it.
- Every rhythm is explained with a diagram, a
counting method, an audio track and a video (MPEG)
clip
It's almost as if I was sitting across from you showing you
how it's played.
- There are 30 practice exercises
All of the practice exercises allow you to play along with
me to band music tracks.
- The play along tracks have different music
styles
You'll play along with the blues, pop, contemporary,
country and other styles of music.
- The sidebars in the book tell you exactly what CD
to use and what file or track to watch or listen to
Each video file and audio track is easy to find.
- There are 61 audio tracks in all on CD 1
You get a full 65:44 minutes of audio instruction and
play-along tracks for your CD player. This includes 14 tracks
dedicated to the 28 chords, 14 rhythm tracks, 30 play along
tracks and 3 info tracks.
- 14 MPEG files with an automatic selection
menu on CD 2
Just put CD2 into your computer, the screen will
automatically load so you can view any of the 14 video
rhythms. Just click the "Rhythm #" and Windows will
automatically load and play the selected video.
- Special help with the "F" chord
Most chords are fairly easy.
"F" is tougher. So one whole
page is dedicated to this chord as well as one audio track.
- Information on chord groups
There are a number chords that naturally just seem to go
together. Two, three, four or five of these chords that are often found together in songs.
Knowing what these chords groups are is the
"magic" that allows experienced guitarists to know which
chords use. You'll learn to hear these changes and you'll be
in the know too.
- 14 of the most common rhythms
8 straight time, 4 shuffles, 1 ballad (6/8 time) and 1
waltz.
- Preparation and information pages
Information on tuning, the kinds of guitars, tips on buying
a guitar and why some guitars are more
expensive.
You'll enjoy learning this
way because you'll always feel that you're progressing.

Again, this is the "what-you-need-to-know" and the "how-to" to play your favorite songs.
Let me explain.
People who want to learn to play the
songs they like want to know the chords and how to strum. The Easiest Way Guitar
book focuses on this area of
learning the guitar. With this book you'll start playing from the very first moment
you pick up your guitar. Ten minutes after you start, you'll be strumming your first two chords. A few days
later you'll know the four chords that have been responsible for dozens of hit songs. You'll learn the blues and the basics to play whatever style of music you want to learn. The simple fact that you're
still reading this letter shows me that you want to learn and I have
honestly never met anyone who was determined to learn the guitar — not learn to play.
All accomplished guitarists who play popular
music know what is in this book. Even the greatest lead guitarists
in the world know the chords and rhythms in this book. I can say
that confidently even without knowing these guitarists personally
because I hear the evidence in their playing on their CD's.
If
you are aspiring to be the next greatest guitarist in the
world, you will still need to know how to play everything that is in this
book. You can still learn to play notes, learn to read guitar music
and tablature. You can learn to play any style of music you want
because what you will learn from the "Easiest Way Guitar
Method" are the essential chords and strumming fundamentals
that are used in all styles of popular music.
Again, this book has been set up so that you don't require any special musical knowledge. The book contains diagrams and pictures of the chords. Then, there are instructions for the strumming such as down, down, down, up, down, up and counting — 1, 2, 3, &, 4, &. Finally, there are practice exercises for the rhythms & chords. The CDs contain tracks to accompany the book. Both audio and visual. You can hear and see how everything should sound and look.
The Easiest Way Guitar Method will show you how to teach yourself
to play the guitar. You will be strumming your favorite songs in no
time.
Don't take my word for it. Listen to what
others have to say.
- "Absolutely amazing! I have been playing guitar for
nearly 40 years and I have to say that Brian
Hawthorn's book is the best I have ever seen.
Nothing previously that I have ever seen can hold a
candle to this publication. It is easy to use and
understand and I think that the CD's included in the
package are very good and helpful. If you have ever
dreamed about learning to play guitar, this is THE
BOOK and I highly recommend it. You will find
yourself playing in no time. I believe this book is
going to become the world's best guide to playing. I
liken a budding guitarist not having this book to a
preacher being without his Bible. Get your hands on
a copy ASAP. Being able to play guitar has made a
profound difference in my life and it will in yours."
Ken Parsons
- "I have been a novice guitarist for about four
years. Using Brian's 'Easiest Way Guitar
Method' book has helped me tremendously in
developing my rhythm and enhanced my ability as a
guitarist. I think this book is invaluable to the
beginner guitarist. Thanks Brian for boosting my
confidence."
Tim Mash
-
"Brian's explanations of the
exercise rhythms on CD are terrific! The reader
knows how the beat goes, and can avoid confusing on
how certain, harder rhythms
should sound while playing. EXPLAINING THE F-CHORD
ON PAGE 22 IS GENIUS!!! WHY HAVEN'T MORE BOOKS DONE
THIS? Overall, one great book. Simple to learn, easy
to understand, and most
important, FUN!"
The "Craigmeister"
-
"Finally a guitar book that makes sense! As a
guitar player for over 30 years I have purchased
many books; some have helped, others have confused
me. This book is easy to understand! I wish I had
this book when I started to learn. It would have
saved me a lot of time, money and frustration.
Anyone reading this book would soon become aware of
Brian's love for the guitar, and his enthusiasm for
helping others enjoy playing well. Thank you Brian
and Al for sharing your knowledge in a format that
works!"
David Schwinghammer
Warning: Do NOT buy any Self-Teaching Guitar
Books unless it meets the following 4 criteria
I realize that it's very difficult
to select a book that will be the right book to show you how to
play, so use the following guidelines in your assessment:
-
It
Must Be Easy to Understand Without The Aid Of A Teacher: Check out the other guitar
books. Are they teaching you notes? Would it require a teacher to explain what
everything means? Unless you have a solid background in music
notation, the book will only be a source of frustration.
-
It Must Not Be Overwhelming: The few books that teach
chords and strumming are filled with rhythms. I've seen a book that
is a so-called beginners book that teaches more than 50 rhythms. Most
of those rhythms are not even used in the real world. Why
bother learning rhythms that are not used. And since you are a
beginner, how would you know which ones are used. I know because I
play.
-
It
Must Focus On The Basics: These same books that teach
chords and strumming want you to learn augmented, diminished, major
sevenths, you name it. These chords are part of the intermediate to
advanced levels and have no business in a beginners book. When you
see all that stuff, it's down-right intimidating when your just
starting.
-
It
Must Teach You What You Really Need And Want To Know: When you're first starting
anything, driving, skateboarding or guitars, you need the experience
of a mentor. Someone who has "been there, done that." I've
"been there, done that", and I truly can help you learn.
There is nothing in the Easiest Way Guitar book
that has been put in just for filler. This is the stuff that is
essential.
You get at least 10 times your money's
worth!
The information that is in the Easiest Way Guitar book with the 2
CD's is
equivalent to 16 weeks worth of guitar lessons. The average going
rate for "music store" lessons is $20.00 per half hour lesson. And
you still need to buy a book! That's a total of $320.00 including
the books. And let me assure you that most guitar teachers will
combine learning to read notes with the lesson, so it will take
longer than 16 weekly guitar lessons to learn what is in this book.
In summary, here's what you get:
With the Easiest Way Guitar Method you'll receive a 44-page, 14-Step
guitar book filled with easy to understand diagrams,
photographs, illustrations, explanations, and exercises with two
accompanying CDs. The video CD and audio CD will allow you to hear
me and see me strumming and that will assure you that you are doing
it right. It really is easy guitar. It's almost as if you are sitting right across from you,
watching and hearing what I do, and I'm there helping and
encouraging you.
The Easiest Way Guitar Method Book with the two accompanying CDs
is just $25.00.
